Mattamy Homes has commissioned international artist JEFRË to design and construct a vibrant “heart” of Tradition, a meeting place  where people can hang out, interact, and spark new connections. The soaring, 100-foot heart-shaped sculpture will be the tallest of its kind in the world.

“Like the Bean in Chicago, the HEART will draw residents and visitors to an experience unlike any other,” said Dan Grosswald, Mattamy President of Southeast Florida Division. “People will revel in the sculpture’s sunlight brilliance and dramatic evening illumination.”

The sculpture, with its gentle twist, will rise above a circular pedestal measuring 30 feet in diameter, recalling St. Louis’s iconic Gateway Arch. The sun will create reflections on the HEART’s stainless steel, polished surface whose appearance will transform nightly with LED lights.

Those who climb the glass bridge connecting the two sides of the HEART will have far-reaching views in all directions. The landmark will be visible from Tradition’s main entrance near Interstate 95 , attracting visitors who want to share a moment at the sculpture with their friends online.

“Tradition is what is in your heart. I just want to show how big it can be,” said JEFRË, whose works include “Reflection” in Philadelphia and “Heaven’s Gate” in Manila.

The HEART is currently under construction at JEFRË’s studios in central Florida. Mattamy Homes will build the foundation at the intersection of Discovery Way and Village Parkway. Installation is expected to be completed in time for a public dedication on Valentine’s Day 2022.
